PoTS Awareness Day/Month!

Hello, my beautiful Ramblers!! I know its been a loooooong time since I made a post. Unfortunately, my health has not been the greatest. So keeping my blog up and running had to be put on the backburner for a little while.

This post comes to you a day late…but I still wanted to do a post because technically PoTS awareness is for the month of October but the actual date in Australia is the 25th. You are probably wondering what is this PoTS that I keep mentioning. So let me explain.

Fibromyalgia & CFS Awareness Month!

💜 May is Fibromyalgia & CFS Awareness Month!! 💜

Today I’m wearing purple for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. May is a month to bring awareness to the invisible illnesses that easily slip under the radar. These illnesses can very much be seen as “invisible illnesses” and are more than not, hard to see if you are only looking surface level…but they are there and very real and VERY debilitating. It’s an illness that literally attacks your whole body, a multi-system disease, it doesn’t discriminate. The list of symptoms is a long one and can vary from person to person but chronic pain and fatigue, that goes beyond what you could ever imagine, are the primary factors but other symptoms can be:

  • Cognitive issues
  • Tiredness that can’t be fixed by sleep
  • Insomnia
  • Tender joints, pressure points and muscles
  • Cramps/tremors in muscles
  • Neurological symptoms such as muscle weakness and numbness
  • Hypersensitivity to touch, light, sound, heat/cold
  • Fibro fog – living in a haze…confused or forgetful
  • Chronic Headaches
  • IBS
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Nerve Pain
  • Reduced immunity
  • Widespread pain over the whole body
  • Costochondritis (inflammation of ribcage)
  • Hair loss

And that is barely the tip of the ice-burg. These conditions are ones that have low awareness so please if you know of anyone suffering from this…we don’t want sympathy for our suffering just understanding. So please share the awareness, so we feel less invisible because “we don’t look sick”. Because I can say that’s one of the hardest things about having these illnesses. And it has a way of making you feel more alone than ever. Spread awareness to help others see just how this illness can betray a person and their body, because let me tell you…it steals all your control and so much more. I haven’t felt more betrayed by my body then the day I began getting sick.

So let’s bring awareness starting today. Much love to all the warriors out there. Continue shining your light and never stop fighting for a better day 💜💜.

Fibromyalgia Awareness Day

Many might not know but the 12th of May is awareness for Fibromyalgia. An invisible illness that not many can easily see directly. Which does make it hard for those suffering from the chronic illness. This illness is just one of the chronic illnesses that has definitely flipped my life around majorly. It causes severe fatigue and widespread pain. Among a lot of other symptoms that’d take me quite some time to explain. But basically it attacks every system in your body and there is no fix or cure for this. Doctors are only just now starting to even recognise this as an illness, which is a great start. But sometimes we just need the people around us to understand a little of what we go through each day. Here is a small glimpse in a life struggling with Fibromyalgia and other invisible illnesses I have.
